The closing of the Bicentennial year was celebrated in the New York/ New Jersey area with a panel of sisters speaking of the topic “Hazard Yet Forward.” The panelists, who all entered their congregations after 1970 were, Jo Ann Bonauro SC (Halifax), Diane Collasano SC (New Jersey), Claire Regan SC (New York), Catherine Salani DC (Northeast). Ellen Dauwer SC (New Jersey) served as moderator and Kathleen Flanagan SC (New Jersey) as a responder. The prayer service, which was woven throughout the afternoon, included a sending forth to continue the mission.
The prayer was planned by Maryann Seton Lopiccolo SC (Halifax), Kati Hamm SC (Halifax), Maryanne Fitzgerald SC (Halifax), and Mary Ann Daly SC (New York). Over 175 Sisters and Associates participated. Each Congregation received a Bicentennial Candle as a remembrance of the year’s events.
The day ended with a delicious meal and dancing. A digital representation of the year in review for the Norhteast celebrants was provided by Elena Miranda, Associate of the Sisters of Charity of Halifax.
