St. Vincent’s, sponsored by the Daughters of Charity, provides child care for 158 infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers. 90% of our children and families live in poverty. 75% of our children are being raised by a single working adult. All parents work and/or attend school and are struggling to obtain or maintain self- sufficiency. The vision for the social worker position is to develop a trusting, unconditional, non- judgmental relationship with childcare families, learn each family’s needs and accompany the family on the path toward improved relationship and overall functioning, health, financial stability, safe housing.
Brief description of responsibilities: Provide short-term and/or crisis intervention services for all children, their families, and staff.
• Provide referrals for and coordinate all services for families including housing, transportation, nutrition, education, employment, parenting etc.
• Coordinate/facilitate family conferences and staffings both in-house and with community partners.
• Coordinate all therapists and community providers (occupational, speak, physical, clinical therapists, etc.)
• Conduct home visits as needed and as schedule permits
• Promote self sufficiency among families
• Serve as bridge between teachers and families
• Consult with community partners, families, teachers and other staff
Educational Requirements: minimum Bachelor of Social Work (or related field)
Experience Required: minimum 3 years working with children and families living in poverty.
