Patrick’s Day Parade in NYC Cincinnati’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Projects Elizabeth Bayley Seton - Collected Writings ‘CrabFeast’ Community Event to Benefit National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Sisters of Daughters of Charity Held in Conjunction with Open Entry to Adjacent National Fallen Firefighter’s 9/11 Memorial (Emmitsburg, MD) - The National Seton Shrine and the Daughters of Charity will host a community CrabFeast on Saturday, September 11 at St. Josephs Provincial House, 333 South Seton Avenue in Emmitsburg, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

The popular CrabFeast event is expected to draw several hundred attendees from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey with an afternoon full of food, fun, drinks, prize drawings, 50/50 drawings, live entertainment from jazz band “Jazz Me,” and more. Cost of the All-You-Can-Eat event is $65 per person for those over 21 and features Maryland blue crabs, fried chicken, pulled BBQ, corn-on-the-cob, baked potatoes, sliced watermelon, Maryland crab soup, baked beans, and other foods. A specially priced $235 Weekend Getaway Package is available through the Sleep Inn in Emmitsburg which includes one night accommodations as well as two tickets to the CrabFeast and two Sunday tickets to the Gettysburg Wine Festival in nearby Gettysburg, PA.

The Gettysburg Wine Festival features wines from many Pennsylvania wineries as well as music, vendors and cooking demonstrations. Weekend Package information is available by contacting the Sleep Inn at (301) 447-0044.

Visitors to CrabFeast in Emmitsburg can also enjoy open admission to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s 9/11 Memorial for viewing of the 40-foot tall bronze sculpture “To Lift a Nation” which honors the heroes of September 11, 2001. The sculpture - depicting the famous image of three firefighters raising the American flag at Ground Zero - is located within The National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Park on the grounds of the National Fire Training Academy (part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency [FEMA]), immediately adjacent to St.

Also open to visitors will be the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton including the Basilica, Visitors Center, museum, and gift store. The Seton Shrine pays homage to America’s first native-born Saint, and its grounds include the original 1800s-era historic home sites which depict the early days of Mother Seton and her role in establishing the first free Catholic school for girls in the United States.

Today, the National Seton Shrine and the Sisters of the Daughters of Charity continue their Mission to provide for others – assisting those in need with spiritual inspiration and hope, and by operating St. Vincent’s and St. Catherine’s personal care centers adjacent to the Seton Shrine.
